SUNY GENESEO MARY JEMESEN DINING HALL ROOF REPLACEMENT, Geneseo, NY

Project Overview

Under our term agreement with the university, NKB was contracted to work on the Mary Jemison Dining Hall Roof Replacement project. This involved 15,000 SF of roof surfaces and canopies at different levels. Various pieces of equipment, like kitchen exhausts, vents, skylights, and smoke hoods, were present on the roofs. Design work included investigative sampling and testing to determine the existing roof system properties, as there was a history of random leaks and infiltration.

Once the entire roof substrate and membrane elements were determined, various elements were also studied, and existing roof vents were removed and infilled; roof edge safety railing was installed, along with roof hatch safety ladders and gates. The entire roof system was replaced with new insulation, 90-mil EPDM membrane, perimeter abatement of flashings, new walkway pads, and new roof edge metal. Masonry repointing and stone restoration were also performed at various locations.
