SUNY GENESEO NEW FACILITIES STORAGE BUILDING, Geneseo, NY

Project Overview

Under our term agreement with the university, NKB was contracted to design a new facilities building for necessary campus storage. This project involved the design and construction of a new SUNY Facilities Storage Building to support the College’s operations and long-term infrastructure needs. The facility will provide secure, large-scale storage capacity and accommodate access for oversized vehicles, equipment, and materials essential to campus maintenance and services. The efforts involved typical design/construction elements, including ~1,437 SF, a wood post-and-truss structural system, metal roof and wall panels, one personnel door plus overhead doors, and related site work (foundation, pads, utilities, etc.).

The new facility is designed to align with SUNY’s performance and durability standards, providing a long-lasting, secure, and efficient resource that supports the College’s mission and daily operations. It offers a flexible interior layout designed to house bulk materials, tools, and seasonal equipment, with clear spans to maximize usable space. It has oversized overhead doors and circulation areas to accommodate College service vehicles, delivery trucks, and other large equipment. The integration of modern security features, including controlled access, durable building systems, and adherence to applicable NYS Building Codes and SUNY standards, is included. Full compliance with life safety requirements, including tie-in to the College’s existing campus-wide fire alarm and monitoring systems for seamless emergency response. Thoughtful siting and utility coordination were included to ensure effective connections to existing campus infrastructure and ease of ongoing maintenance. As an experienced higher education design partner, our team understands how to translate operational needs into durable, efficient, and future-ready facilities. The new SUNY Facilities Storage Building represents a vital investment in the College’s ability to support campus operations with security, accessibility, and long-term resilience.
