BUILDINGS ASSESSMENT STUDY, Cooperstown, Otsego County, NY

Project Overview

The County engaged NKB and its specialty subconsultants to conduct comprehensive Facilities Condition Assessments (FCAs) of its facilities to evaluate the condition, useful life, code compliance, and replacement or upgrade needs of building systems, materials, and major components. The assessment included document reviews, stakeholder interviews, collection of available plans and equipment inventories, and on-site inspections to identify visible deficiencies and document existing conditions.

Building systems evaluated included structural, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, fire protection, security, emergency power, and water distribution systems. The team developed cost estimates to address identified deficiencies, including replacement costs where applicable, and provided recommendations to support capital improvement planning and facility management over the next 20 years. Findings were presented to County officials to inform future investment and occupancy decisions.
