Project Highlights
Since the contract award in July 2016, the NKB Team has executed on more than 50 projects for this contract. Highlights from a few of these projects are provided below:
DHS 16 Land Mobile Radio Towers Condition Assessment & Helipad Design
The NKB Team performed condition assessment of land mobile radio towers and helipad design at 16 locations throughout the State of Maine for the Department of Homeland Security.
FDA White Oak Building 71 East Entrance & Security Pavilion
The Team performed complete design services to create a new FDA employee security checkpoint and entrance into an existing building, improving employee circulation within the main FDA campus.
Hanley Federal Building SSA Barrier Wall Renovation
The NKB Team created a new public / agency interface for the Social Security Administration with a new barrier wall system.
MLK Courthouse / Lautenberg Post Office Tunnel Repair Study
The Team provided a condition assessment and recommendations for the repair of an existing 300’ pedestrian tunnel connecting the federal courthouse and post office to mitigate moisture infiltration in the tunnel.
FDA White Oak Building 2 CSU Cafeteria Seating Renovation
The NKB Team renovated the existing Building 2 cafeteria to improve seating configuration and create a new demising wall for newly created credit union and retail store areas within the cafeteria.
FDA San Francisco (Alameda) Laboratory Design Review
The Team provided peer design review services to the Food & Drug Administration for the new FDA San Francisco Laboratory for compliance with FDA and NIH design requirements.
O’Brien Federal Building Chiller Plant Replacement
The NKB Team provided construction quality management services for the replacement of O’Brien federal building chiller plant.
FDA White Oak Building 72 UPS Replacement
The Team replaced the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) furnishing clean power to all the mission critical system equipment within the Bio-Safety Level 3 (BSL3) FDA Laboratory space located at the White Oak campus.
FDA White Oak Building 64 Radio-Isotope Laboratory Fume Hood Renovation
The NKB Team renovated the existing FDA radio-Isotope laboratory with a new fume hood and appropriate infrastructure appropriate to accommodate the research program requirements within the space.
FDA White Oak Building 51 Conference Suite Renovation
The NKB Team renovated the Building 51 high-end conference suite at the FDA White Oak campus, providing a broad range of conference facilities to accommodate present and future program needs.
US Air Force White Oak AEDC Storage Building Renovation
The Team renovated the existing AEDC nozzle storage facility with new envelope enclosure to increase the amount of storage and maintenance area for the Air Force Research Laboratory.
Champlain Land Port of Entry Bus, Passenger Processing & Administration Renovation
The NKB Team renovated the existing Champlain Land Port of Entry Bus, Passenger Processing & Administration area to increase the throughput, functionality, and anti-terrorism / force-protection requirements.
FDA Kansas City Laboratory Design Reviews, Quality Assurance, & Commissioning Oversight
The Team provided technical advisor services for Design Reviews, Quality Assurance & Commissioning Oversight at the FDA Kansas City Laboratory for compliance with FDA and NIH design requirements.
FDA White Oak Building 52/72 NMR & BSL 3 Suite Renovation
The NKB Team renovated all systems and equipment in support of the FDA White Oak Building 52/72 Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) & Bio-Safety Level 3 (BSL-) Suite.
FDA Chicago Laboratory & Cincinnati Laboratory Program of Requirements Review
The Team provided review of the Program of Requirements for FDA Chicago Laboratory and FDA Cincinnati Laboratory for compliance with FDA and NIH design requirements.
FDA White Oak Building 2 Monumental Stair Design
The NKB Team added a monumental stair within a highly-visible multi-story atrium to accommodate FDA employee communication between various floors of the Building administrative office / laboratory Building 2.
Albany FBI Visitor Screening Facility Design Build Bridging Documents
The Team created bridging documents for the renovation for a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) visitor screening facility.
Jackson Courthouse USBC Buildout PCCS
The NKB Team renovated multiple floors of the existing Jackson Courthouse to accommodate various US Bankruptcy Court program adjustments.
FDA White Oak B52/75 AHU Moisture Remediation
The Team renovated existing FDA White Oak Building 52 and Building 72 air handling equipment to mitigate moisture accumulation issues within the existing AHU equipment.
FDA White Oak Transportation Enhancements
The NKB Team renovated the existing White Oak campus to provide improved security, vehicular, pedestrian, and storm water management throughout the campus.
